The name
A word for light that came to mean honest.
Candora is a word coined from the Latin candor. At first it meant brightness, a shining white. Later the same word came to mean sincerity and honesty.
The word reaches the moon too. In Sanskrit the moon is called candra. Etymologists think candra and the Latin candēre, “to shine”, come from one Indo-European root. It is a suspected kinship, not a borrowing.
